A mum-of-eight who claims $33 800 in benefits has bought herself a pony to with her depression.
35-year-old Marie Buchan claims thousands in handouts every year and is set to fork out around $4 680 a year on the new nag.
She paid $250 for six-month-old Welsh colt Bobby and will pay $30 a week to stable him, plus hay costs on top of that.
Barry Tomes, Marie's agent, said she was on medication for depression and the new pony will improve her wellbeing.
He told the Daily Mail: "Purchasing this horse may infuriate some people. But what Marie needs is open space and a change of scene to help her bouts of depression."
"She needs to be out in the fresh air and open spaces will do her good her good."
Marie told the Daily Star last month: "I want a horse and I'm going to get it. I've wanted one for a long, long time - since before I had the kids."
"I'm going to ride it. I wouldn't mind getting a horse that needs breaking in, more as a challenge than anything."
"The haters are going to hate, I know they are. But I grew up around horses and now it's time to have my own."
Marie also caused outrage when she was spotted out shopping for a $90,000 Range Rover last year.
